
Cates Family Farm Classic Chili

Ingredients
- 1 lb Cates Family Farm 90/10 lean ground grass-fed beef
- 1-2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 medium onion diced
- 2 1/2 tbsp chili powder
- 1-2 tbsp cumin to your taste
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- optional spices: ground black pepper, salt, garlic salt, onion powder, paprika, crushed red pepper, and/or cayenne pepper adjust to your taste
- 1 1/2 c beef broth
- 1 14-15 oz can petite diced tomatoes
- 1 15-16 oz can of kidney beans (low sodium if preferred), drained and rinsed; and/or mix 50/50 with half can each, red kidney and black beans for color
- 1 8 oz can tomato sauce
Instructions
- Add olive oil to a large soup pot and place it over medium-high heat for 2 minutes. Add the onion and cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally
- Add the ground beef to the pot. Break it apartwith a utensil, and cook for 6-7 minutes until beef is browned, stirringoccasionally
- Add the chili powder, cumin, tomato paste,garlic powder, and other spices to your liking; stir until well combined
- Add the beef broth, diced tomatoes (with theirjuice), drained beans, and tomato sauce; stir well
- Cover the pot and bring the liquid to a lowboil; then uncover and reduce the heat (low to medium-low) to gently simmer for20-25 minutes
- Remove the pot from the heat; let chili restfor 5-10 minutes before serving; consider topping off with sprinkled gratedcheese, raw diced onions, and/or a spoonful of sour creamSavor!
