Stronger Together: Gathering Community for Farming in Challenging Times
A monthly speaker’s series that convenes over lunch (provided) to build community and learn about resources available to farmers.
Past topics included: farm finances; breaking the stress cycle; planning for farm transitions; and strategies to cultivate resiliency.
The Water We Swim In – A Community Conversation
Learn to recognize the "water we swim in" (our culture) and how it contributes to both helpful and unhelpful attitudes and beliefs related to physical, mental, and behavioral health and well-being.
These 90-minute conversations can be held virtually or in-person as one time conversations or as part of an ongoing series depending on interest.Â
Appropriate for all community members who want to contribute to a more vibrant community where all can thrive.Â
No prior knowledge or training in mental and behavioral health necessary.
COMET™ (Changing Our Mental and Emotional Trajectory)
A 2-hour workshop that teaches people how to intervene when they encounter someone who is in a “vulnerable space” and help shift the person’s mental health trajectory back to a place of wellness instead of proceeding towards a mental health crisis.
Developed by farmers and ranchers, COMET aligns with rural cultural values of neighbor helping neighbor and communities being their own best resource. COMET empowers friends and neighbors to be more prepared to support others’ mental health needs – especially before a crisis.
QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer)
A 90-minute, evidence-based suicide prevention gatekeeper training.
QPR trainers are available to provide this workshop online or in local community settings.
This workshop is appropriate for community members no matter their level of prior familiarity with community-based mental health support.
safeTALK
A 4-hour, evidence-based suicide prevention gatekeeper training conducted in-person.
At a LivingWorks safeTALK workshop, you’ll leave how to prevent suicide by recognizing signs that someone may be struggling with thoughts of suicide, learn to engage them so they tell their story, and identify resources to connect them to for further support.
safeTALK trainers are available to provide the workshop in local community settings.
This workshop is appropriate for any community member 15 years of age or older no matter their level of prior familiarity or training in community-based mental health support.
ASIST
A 2-day, evidence-based workshop: Advanced Suicide Intervention Skills Training.
ASIST is appropriate for community members already trained in safeTALK, mental health providers, primary care physicians, clergy members, social workers, and others in identified helping roles.
This training will be offered next in 2022.
